The International Tidal Energy Summit ( 27th of November) opening address was by Rt Honourable Alistair Carmichael, supporting the Marine renewables industry and how important it is important maintain a leading position and to engage with Parliament is to have single voice, which complements the development of the Marine Energy Council. He also appraised the NSRI report, drawing upon the recommendation and the model in the executive summary providing a direction.Audience – Question to Alistair, how does the Tidal industry get engaged with the Oil and Gas Supply Chain. The answer was Subsea UK and NSRI or Oil and Gas UK.
Tony Laing (Director of NSRI) gave a presentation, addressing some of the observations and opportunities to share knowledge and experiences across the blue economy, thereby increasing supply chain, and research funding, accelerating resolving the challenges across the wider industries. In addition, I highlighted the focus on safety process within the offshore environment and Oil and Gas is still earning, along with the fact technical and innovation evolution is accelerating is part of society today, however we need to address design, processes and qualification to reduce costs by ensuring we all support advanced manufacturing techniques, digital and new approached to qualification.
