Global Offshore, a leading provider of cable installation, repair and trenching services to the offshore renewables, utilities and oil & gas markets and part of the Global Marine Group, has announced the completion of the export power cable installation at the Kincardine Floating Offshore Wind Farm pilot site in Scotland for Grupo Cobra. The installation of the 18km export cable was completed by the Global Offshore team on board the highly versatile Global Symphony and marks the completion and connection of the first turbine, of six, on the 50MW Kincardine site. The overall project involved pre-installation surveys, grapnel work, installation, including the use of a dynamic riser to allow for movement of the platform, and trenching of the 18km export cable from Cove to the floating turbine, located just off the coast of Aberdeen.
Mr Mike Daniel, Managing Director of Global Offshore commented, "We’re pleased to have worked with Grupo Cobra to deliver the cable connection for this floating offshore wind farm. Our responsive, in-house engineering expertise and project management, allowed us to quickly react, meeting the customer’s project timelines to complete the project in just a few weeks. This marks the sixth successful project completed by the Global Symphony this year, all of which received significant client feedback and satisfaction.”
Mr. Daniel continued, "There are many advantages of building wind farm sites in deeper water. The floating technology utilised at Kincardine is relatively new to the market, and it’s great to be a part of developing these deep water solutions for the future.”
