Bibby Offshore Employees Reap the Rewards of Volunteering
02 March 2010
Bibby Offshore’s Risk and Business Continuity (R&BC) department, along with chief executive, Howard Woodcock, recently spent a day volunteering for leading Scottish disabilities charity, Cornerstone. The team of eleven Bibby Offshore employees painted walls, ceilings and woodwork of the hallway at one of Cornerstone’s Aberdeen services and worked through very wintery conditions to transform the garden.
Commenting on their volunteering experience with Cornerstone, Bibby Offshore’s chief executive, Howard Woodcock, said: “Spending the day volunteering in Mastrick has not only left our team with a sense of personal satisfaction and achievement because we had made a difference to the lives of the people living there, it also provided a great team-building opportunity for the R&BC department.
“Volunteering within the community is something which Bibby Offshore very much supports and we will continue to encourage and empower those of our employees who wish to get involved with charities such as Cornerstone to do so.”
In a letter of thanks, Alison McPherson, volunteering development manager for Cornerstone, praised the R&BC team for “coming out on such a cold day and really working hard to get all the tasks done.” She then went on to write, “thank you once again for choosing Cornerstone as the beneficiary of your time, skills and generosity and for making such a positive difference to the lives of the people we support”.
