This presentation covered the range of innovation support available for UK companies looking to bring new technologies and services into the offshore wind sector. Including insights into the types of support, what funding is available and the timing of relevant programmes both for early stage startups developing a new product and for more established companies looking to diversify into the sector.

Andrew Tipping, ORE Commercialisation Manager, set up the Launch Academy in 2019, the first business accelerator programme tailored for the offshore wind sector. The industry sponsored programme is currently supporting a cohort of 9 of the sector’s most promising companies, helping them to become investor ready, supply chain ready and equipped for growth. He has worked as an advisor to the Catapult’s network of innovators – helping them to identify routes to market, assess business cases and find funding avenues and investment opportunities. Andrew has seven years’ experience in offshore renewables, spending three years in international Business Development working with leading renewable technology developers seeking to prove their new innovations through test and demonstration.

Prior to joining the Catapult, Andrew spent two years working in market research specialising in technology commercialisation, helping companies to raise investment and develop new business propositions. He also spent time working for an Angel Syndicate and has sat on investment judging panels reviewing company pitches.
