£2m funding competition for unmanned autonomous military systems in challenging environments

03 July 2020

The Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) have launched a call for proposals that can provide a step change in the capability of unmanned autonomous military systems which operate in challenging environments, including subsea.

The competition is seeking technologies to broaden the environmental and performance envelope of unmanned autonomous or semi-autonomous systems, including unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs). Challenging environmental conditions include weather, water dynamics (such as currents and visibility), range illumination, sudden and enduring pressure or acoustic extremes underwater, variable salinity, dense vegetation and more.

Solutions proposed must not erode the core benefits of existing or future anticipated unmanned autonomous or semi-autonomous systems.

A virtual launch event with further detail on the call, and a chance to ask questions in an open forum, will take place on 21 July.
