Aker Solutions Scoops Tamar job
19 April 2010
Norway’s Aker Solutions has landed a Nkr300 million orer to deliver a complete mono ethylene glycol (MEG) reclamation unit to US operator Noble Energy for the Tamar development, off Israel. The MEG reclamation technology removes the possibility of blockages in subsea pipelines, by preventing ice and hydrate formation.
The unit is scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of next year.
The Tamar gas field lies 90 kilometres off Haifa and holds an estimated 7.3 trillion cubic feet of gas - enough to meet Israeli gas demand for about 20 years.
Tamar will be developed as a long distance subsea tie-back to a new gas terminal in Israel and is due on stream in 2012.
Noble has so far signed letters of intent covering about one-third of Tamar’s projected gas sales.
The US company also operates the Mari B gas field off Israel.
