In partnership with Subsea UK, CEO Neil Gordon chaired the discussion and provided us with some updates on what Subsea UK is doing to support its membership in these challenging times.

Neil is the CEO of Subsea UK, but initially studied business in Aberdeen then trained as an Offshore Commercial Diver. Has over 25 years management experience in director and business development roles, combined with over 15 years in the subsea industry.

Iain Smith
Senior Vice President, Proserv Controls
Iain commenced his career in the Royal Navy as an aircraft engineer before moving into Oil and Gas with Halliburton. He has amassed 30 years in the sector across offshore, operational and both regional and senior management roles. Iain has been based in Nigeria, Singapore and Malaysia as part of his international postings. Iain joined Proserv ten years ago and previously ran the firm’s global subsea controls business before taking on his present senior management position.
Ivar Josselin de Jong
Solution Director Remote Inspection, Fugro
Ivar graduated as a Master of Science in Geology and Environmental Management from Utrecht and Leiden Universities in The Netherlands. In the early days of his 25 years’ experience in the offshore industry he was active in seismic data acquisition and equipment development and manufacturing. Later moving towards roles in operational, commercial and innovation management. Ivar’s latest priorities are the recently launched Blue Shadow, Fugro’s USV solution for high speed hydrography, the ongoing USV developments in the Sea-Kit Partnership and the next generation electric ROV development program. In his current role, Ivar is operating in the triangle Innovation-Clients-Operations and transforming Fugro’s business to become leader in the remote inspection market for O&G and renewables with a USV / ROV combi solution.
Andy Buchan
CEO, Hiretech Limited
Andy Buchan is the founder and CEO of Hiretech Limited. He has over 35 years’ experience working directly in the energy industry, complemented by qualifications in engineering and a Masters degree in Business Administration. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineers and a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute.
Richard Drennan
Director and Co-founder at Viewport3
Richard is Aberdeen born and bred, a self-confessed technical geek, who is almost as passionate about automotive technology as he is about photogrammetry. Richard’s technical career saw him progress from a trainee technician position to senior engineer / PM over a 14-year period in the subsea control systems environment.
