Dynamic Cable Systems (ORE Catapult Webinar)

Dynamic Cable Systems (ORE Catapult Webinar)

06 April 2021
Venue: Webinar (15:30 - 17:00 BST)

This event has concluded. Please see below to download presentations.

A recording of the webinar is also available to Subsea UK members below.

In an effort to boost the UK’s floating offshore wind industry, ORE Catapult has established the Floating Offshore Wind Centre of Excellence (FOW CoE) to accelerate the commercialisation of floating offshore wind in the UK, and more broadly. The Centre will accelerate the build-out of floating farms, create opportunities for the UK supply chain, and drive innovations in manufacturing, installation and O&M.

As part of ORE Catapult's work programme, the FOW CoE, in conjunction with Subsea UK, are running a series of webinars on critical subsea components in floating offshore wind – specifically dynamic cable systems and mooring and anchoring systems.

This webinar looked at specifically at dynamic cable technologies in FOW, and provided an overview of the Dynamic Cables and Ancillary Systems project currently being delivered by the FOW CoE. This project is focused on FOW inter-array cabling and ancillary components, and has been developed to both increase understanding of technical requirements for UK FOW projects, and to understand the requirements and opportunities for the supply chain.

The webinar was facilitated by Subsea UK CEO, Neil Gordon.

Agenda

  • An overview of dynamic cable technologies used in FOW;
  • Overview of product development ongoing in industry;
  • Overview of the Dynamic Cables and Ancillary Systems project, including next steps for the programme;

Attendees received insights into key components and design considerations for dynamic cabling systems in FOW and an opportunity to provide industry feedback to support this work.
