Mentors sought to provide expertise for the next generation of science and engineering students
29 April 2021
The University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) has issued a call seeking mentors willing to pass on industry experience to the next generation of science and engineering students.
The UHI is asking for mentors to spare an hour or two a month to ensure mentees get the best start possible.
Dr. Audrey Decou of UHI said: "Our Employer Mentoring Programme has been a success for the second consecutive year. It has been of great importance and support to our students especially this year, due to Covid and the difficulties to engage with the sector in other ways.
"The programme will run again from October 2021 until April 2022. The minimum requirement is for the mentor and mentee to be in contact at least once a month. The contact can be made remotely using email, video conference, phone call - whatever best suits the pair."
The programme is offered to the 3rd year students from the following courses:
- Environmental Science
- Marine Science (new for 2021-22)
- Engineering (new for 2021-22)
To be considered as a potential mentor for the 2021-22 academic year on the above subjects, please send a short description of your expertise / area of interest for the matching process to email@example.com
