Subsea project management and engineering company CSL is to manage the delivery of subsea EPIC (Engineering, Procurement, Installation and Commissioning) and control system contracts on behalf of Centrica Resources Limited for the Grove Extension and Seven Seas gas field developments in the Southern North Sea. The value of the contract awarded to CSL is worth around £2.5 million.
CSL has successfully supported the Grove and Seven Seas developments since the summer of 2007, throughout the initial stages of the appraisal and facilities definition. The next phase of the project will see CSL and Centrica continue to work closely together as the developments move into execution.
Work has already commenced with the award of the EPIC contract to Subsea 7, and procurement of long lead items is underway. Contract award for the supply of the subsea controls system for Seven Seas is imminent and offshore well operations and drilling have commenced on Grove.
CSL’s Managing Director Mark Gillespie puts the success of the company’s ongoing relationship with Centrica down to the integrated team approach that has been adopted throughout the project.
“We’re delighted to have the opportunity to continue to support Centrica as part of its project team and look forward to working together towards bringing Grove and Seven Seas on stream.
“Unlike traditional company-contractor relationships, Centrica and CSL have worked in an arrangement where CSL is regarded as an integral part of the operator’s team. This has given us a genuine sense of ownership and has enabled us to fully represent our client throughout the delivery of this project.”
Final commissioning of both developments is expected towards the end of 2009.
