Wellstream Launches New Integrity Management Division

Wellstream, a leading manufacturer and supplier of flexible pipe systems and solutions to the offshore oil and gas industry announces the establishment of a new Integrity Management Division based at its Global Headquarters in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. This Division, to be headed up by Angus Allsop, VP Integrity Management, will develop condition monitoring systems based on a series of exciting technology partnerships with MAPS Technology Ltd and RTL Materials Ltd.

Alasdair MacDonald, Acting CEO of Wellstream, explains “Wellstream has always worked very closely with its customers to provide after sales support, and creating this new Division will enhance this capability by providing a single point of contact and bringing additional focus to our extensive R&D efforts in increasingly demanding from a technical perspective. Wellstream’s unique Integrity Management Systems allows inspection and monitoring of all forms of new or existing risers and flowlines. This enables Customers to reduce operational, safety and environmental risks by using real time data to plan
interventions, maximising asset life and production availability, and minimising whole life costs.”

The innovative MAPS® V1 monitoring system is the first product to be launched by the Division and offers the ability to directly measure the integrity of the key load bearing elements of a flexible riser or flowline without penetrating or adversely affecting the riser or flowline structure, thereby providing real time information on load changes, any loss of integrity or progressive failure occurring within all load bearing elements.

Combining this with the Rolatube deflection measurement system and Wellstream’s proprietary design software and methodologies also allows the fatigue life of the system to be monitored.
