Global Underwater Hub takes part in Offshore Decommissioning Conference 2021

25 November 2021

Tony Laing, Manager of Projects at Global Underwater Hub, was invited to take part in an international panel session at the OGUK Offshore Decommissioning Conference 2021. The ‘Making the UK decommissioning centre of excellence through exports’ session was hosted by the UK Department of International Trade and chaired by Shozey Jafferi, energy sector specialist, DIT.

The industry response to the Government Call for Evidence to Strengthen the UK’s offshore Decommissioning Capability placed a number of actions on regulators and government bodies. These actions include the development of a global export strategy for the UK industry which will seek to maximise export potential for our ever-developing supply chain. This session provided an update on progress since the call for evidence and outlined developments in some of the key global markets for decommissioning.

Tony said; "A number of presentations were delivered from the international community including, Australia, Malaysia, Brunei and the Middle East, who shared their decommission framework along with the opportunities and considered challenges – all with the core fundamental message of governance and working together for the common good of safety, efficiency and very much aware of environment.”
