Secretary of State for International Trade Meets With GUH Members at Port of Blyth

Secretary of State for International Trade, the Rt Hon Anne-Marie Trevelyan MP, has visited the Port of Blyth to meet with a range of companies working in the global underwater sector.

During the breakfast meeting the minister held discussions with members of the Global Underwater Hub around how to address the UK skills shortage and strengthen support for cross-sector innovation.

Hosted by the Port of Blyth, the event was attended by representatives of Baker Hughes, Flow Subsea, Global Marine, James Fisher Marine Services, JDR Cables Systems, Osbit, SMD, TechnipFMC, Tekmar Group and Walker Subsea Engineering.

Chairman of the Global Underwater Hub, Andrew Hodgson, chaired the meeting which had been coordinated by the Department for International Trade.

Following the visit, Anne-Marie Trevelyan MP commented that she had meet with "some of the amazing businesses who work in the global undersea markets, that unseen but critically important part of what makes our economy, our energy and our data flows work.

"They’re leading the way as part of the UK’s global leadership on the energy transition and offshore wind, looking to solve some of those big climate change challenges that we all face."
