Employees of around 30 Global Underwater Hub (GUH) member companies attended the industry body’s latest Breakfast Club event. The June breakfast club was sponsored by Film-Ocean, an independent subsea contractor providing ROV inspection and intervention services.

Operations director Trish Banks welcomed attendees before introducing Graham Whitehead, manager of projects at the GUH.  He gave guests an update on the Supply Chain Mapping programme and provided an overview of the Open Innovation Call that is being organised in conjunction with the Royal Navy and Babcock Nuclear.

The Supply Chain Mapping project will identify and outline categorised details of every UK-based supplier of commercial underwater products and services.  It aims to open the supply chain to new market sectors and opportunities, while increasing competitiveness for purchasers.

Main speaker for the morning was John Bloomfield, global business development manager at Film Ocean.  John, whose sales careers spans 30 years and includes selling diamonds, provided attendees with an overview of Film-Ocean’s range of services offered by its fleet of ROVs.  He also gave details of the firm’s new facilities which are currently under construction in Ellon.

The Breakfast Club is a recent addition to the Global Underwater Hub event’s programme, providing a networking opportunity for members every two months.
