SPEAKERS

ROWAN STUART | POLICY ADVISOR, DEPARTMENT FOR INTERNATIONAL TRADE

Rowan has worked in a number of roles in the Civil Service. Currently working within the Freeports team at DIT, he has previously worked in other export & investment roles, as well as undertaking COVID-19 response work within the Department for Health and Social Care. Rowan is an international relations graduate, with an interest in exploring how best the UK can support its businesses to succeed in trading internationally, and how best we can leverage success in this space to deliver value for the UK taxpayer.

MICHAEL GREEN | HEAD OF FREEPORTS, DEPARTMENT FOR INTERNATIONAL TRADE

Michael is Head of Freeports at the Department for International Trade, coordinating the Department’s work to establish UK Freeports as national hubs for global trade and investment. This involves working to articulate the attractiveness of the UK’s Freeport ecosystem to prospective investors and export markets overseas, as well as supporting Freeports in developing robust strategies to increase trade and investment. Michael’s previous experience includes leading DIT’s High Potential Opportunities (HPO) programme, managing a team that works with stakeholders from across the UK to identify emerging clusters, regional supply chain gaps, R&D centres and other strategic opportunities with high potential for inward investment that would benefit from targeted promotion activity.
