Last week, Global Underwater Hub welcomed a delegation from Estonia who were visiting north-east Scotland to build relationships with local organisations, project developers and the wider supply chain to support the delivery of energy projects in the Baltic region.
The delegation included representatives from energy providers, hydrogen producers, the countryís national investment agency and electronic and cabling companies. Accompanying the group to Global Underwater Hub was the Estonian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Viljar Lubi.
Along with listening to a presentation about the DeepWind offshore wind cluster in the north of Scotland, the delegation heard from Global Underwater Hub members Balmoral and EODEX.
Ian Milne, renewables sales manager, Balmoral gave an overview of the firmís product offering for fixed and floating offshore wind developments. He also highlighted the firmís supporting engineering services, which includes hydrodynamic, thermal, seabed and vortex induced vibration analyses, and its industry leading subsea and mechanical testing facilities.
Illustrating the varied capabilities of the UKís underwater sector, Bernie Morrison explained the role that EODEX plays in making the ocean floor safe through the disposal of historic munitions. Bernie, executive director of EODEX, highlighted how the firm can carry out initial seabed surveys at offshore wind farm developments and subsequently clear the seabed of unexploded ordnance at offshore wind farm developments.
