ETZ Race to Net Zero - Harnessing Scotland's Blue Economy
29 November 2022
Venue: The Marcliffe Hotel, Aberdeen
Energy transition refers to the energy sector’s shift from fossil-based energy production and consumption to renewable energy sources. Scotland has the potential to drive the future of energy and ensure long term energy security and affordability. To do this we must broaden the range of energy sources and invest in new and green energy generation.
North East Scotland is home to 75% of the world’s subsea capability and over a thousand energy supply chain companies - the critical mass of skills and infrastructure required to accelerate our transition to new energies.
One area which Scotland has both advantage and the ambition to be a global leader is in marine management. The Blue Economy which is defined by the World Bank as the ‘sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth, improved livelihoods, and jobs while preserving the health of marine and coastal ecosystem,’ has huge growth potential and offers a considerable variety of new opportunities.
We invite the North and North East Scotland’s supply chain to join us as we discuss a number of key projects and opportunities to unlock the potential of the blue economy in Scotland’s energy mix. We will also take a closer look to the risks, future opportunities for the supply chain as well as regulatory and commercial challenges.
