Subsea Expo is the world’s largest exhibition and conference dedicated to the subsea sector. The event’s final day, Thursday, 23 February, will see our expanded educational programme foreSEA Your Future take place. It aims to inspire young people to consider a career in the energy sector or wider underwater industry.
The programme offers an excellent opportunity for college and university students to hear first-hand from young professionals working in the industry and how their careers have progressed. Attendees will also be able to listen to engineer, space scientist and broadcaster Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock MBE discuss the importance of science and engineering in industry, and explain how science and technology affect our everyday lives.
With an opportunity to tour the exhibition hall, which will feature around 150 companies, foreSEA Your Future will give you an invaluable insight into the energy sector and underwater industry.
10:30 - 11:00 DR MAGGIE ADERIN-POCOCK MBE
With her characteristic enthusiasm and passion for science, engineer, space scientist and broadcaster Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock MBE will discuss her route into science and engineering.
Inspired by space from a young age, she gained A-levels in maths, physics, chemistry and biology, before gaining a BSc in physics from Imperial College London and subsequently completing a PhD in mechanical engineering. Considered one of the UK’s top 100 most influential scientists, Dr Aderin-Pocock is one of the presenters of the monthly BBC programme The Sky at Night.
During what is set to be an engaging half-hour, she is share her love of science and engineering and offer invaluable insights into how science and technology affect our lives.
11:30 - 12:30: YOUNG PROFESSIONALS IN DISCUSSION
Hear from a diverse panel of young industry professionals as they share their experiences in the energy industry and underwater sector. The panel will discuss their route into the industry and career path to date, the types of roles available, day-to-day life working in the sector and the highlights of their careers to date. There will also be the chance to pose questions to the panel.
12:30 - 14:00: LUNCHTIME SPEED NETWORKING
This is an opportunity to chat face-to-face with young professionals working across the energy sector and underwater industry. You may have been inspired by the career path someone has followed, be keen to discover more about working for a specific company or interested in the options that your degree or qualification can offer within the industry, and this informal lunchtime session is your chance to find out more.

AARON ELLIS | TECHNICAL SALES MANAGER - RENEWABLES
JDR CABLE SYSTEMS
Aaron Ellis is Technical Sales Manager for the Renewable product line at JDR Cable Systems Ltd, a leading provider of subsea umbilical and power cable products and services for the offshore energy sector. He joined JDR in 2013 as an Engineering Apprentice and has since worked throughout Engineering, holding positions at Senior and Lead. He then moved onto Costing Estimating Lead before joining Sales in 2021 and taking on technical responsibility for Renewables. Aaron is a Bachelor of Engineering within Mechanical Engineering.

GRACEANN ROBERTSON | MARKETING MANAGER
VERLUME
VERLUME
Graceann has over six years of experience in the energy industry. A graduate of the University of Aberdeen, Graceann holds a joint honours degree in Business Management and French. She joined Verlume, a leader in intelligent energy management and storage technologies, through an internship programme in 2016.
Following her first three-year stint at Verlume, she spent two years in the energy team of a communications and marketing agency working with clients across oil & gas and renewables markets. She returned to Verlume in July 2021 to drive the brand into wider energy markets. In the role of marketing manager at Verlume, Graceann is the focal point for managing product brands and developing Verlume’s image to support the company’s ambitious growth plans.
She has been co-chair of the Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group Young Professionals network since December 2021.


BRADLEY SAVOLDELLI | PROJECTS & ENGINEERING MANAGER
PROSERV
Bradley Savoldelli is the Projects & Engineering Manager for Proserv. Bradley first started in the energy industry in 2008 as an Apprentice Subsea Fitter. After completing his Modern Apprenticeship in 2011, he joined Proserv as an Assembly / Project Technician. He then went on to attain a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering whilst working full time. As a result, Bradley has enjoyed a diverse career at Proserv, with positions varying from Field Operator to Sampling Product Specialist, to Business Development Manager. This varied experience has culminated in the position he has today, where he runs the sampling and injection engineering department at Proserv’s sampling centre of excellence in Aberdeen.

Alongside his daily responsibilities as a Designer, Jamie completed a BEng in Mechanical Engineering and in 2021 moved into his current role as an Automation Engineer, helping Subsea7 drive it’s digital transformation within the UK.

RYAN FERNANDO | SENIOR QUALITY ADVISOR & FIELD TEAM MANAGER

Ryan Fernando is a Senior Quality Advisor and the Field Team Manager at Aker Solutions. Starting out his career in the industry, in 2013 as an Electronics Apprentice and winning multiple industry awards, has developed strong ties with industry bodies, local industry groups and currently represents the next generation in the North Sea Transition Forum. Achieving a BSc in Electronics and Electrical Engineering through part-time study while coming up through the ranks to his current dual role has provided a robust technical background, now with a focus on developing strong leadership and commercial skills. Motivated and passionate about actively promoting the industry to the next generation, people development and being involved in the new and exciting opportunities the Energy Transition brings. Ryan has held previous roles as an Electrical Technician and Workshop Supervisor.

STEPHANIE HOOD | GROWTH HUB PRODUCT MANAGER

Stephanie started her career as a manufacturing apprentice, who, after achieving an SVQ Level 3, moved into a Project Engineering role. Stephanie took a break in her career where she studied an IET accredited bachelor degree (with honours) in Engineering with Management from Edinburgh Napier University.
Stephanie then joined Baker Hughes as a Project Management intern in 2019, where she completed various rotations across the business. Stephanie is currently on the Baker Hughes ASPIRE Sales & Commercial leadership development program, where Stephanie has led various projects that focused on bringing new Energy Transition business pipeline and positioning Baker Hughes within the renewables sector.

JAMIE SMITH | AUTOMATION SUPPORT ENGINEER

Jamie has almost 10 years of experience within Subsea7, a global leader in the delivery of offshore projects and services for the energy industry.
Originally starting as a Technical Clerk within the Drawing Office, He completed a three-year apprenticeship as a Trainee Designer, gaining a HNC and HND in Mechanical Engineering.
Alongside his daily responsibilities as a Designer, Jamie completed a BEng in Mechanical Engineering and in 2021 moved into his current role as an Automation Engineer, helping Subsea7 drive it’s digital transformation within the UK.
