IXSEA Defence Leader Chooses IXSEA for Mobile Radar Application
19 August 2010
EADS Defence & Security (DS), a world leader in the defence and security electronics sector, has become the latest company to choose IXSEA for a demanding navigation and positioning application. Defence Electronics, an integrated activity of DS based in Ulm, Germany, has purchased eight ADVANS LYRA units; further orders are expected to follow.
The units will replace obsolete mechanical orientation technology in vehicles designed to carry mobile radar systems. Very soon after the vehicle has come to a stop, the operator will be provided with accurate heading and attitude information with which to orient the radar system.
Eric Richaud, Defence Sales Director, said, “Our aim with the various navigation and positioning systems that we supply is to ensure that they closely match the operational requirements of individual users, which can vary widely across the different market sectors that we serve. ADVANS LYRA was developed after considerable effort to understand the practical challenges that exist in the land-based defence sector; we believe this was an important factor in our winning the order to supply EADS Defence & Security on this occasion.”
Incorporating IXSEA's industry-leading fibre-optic gyroscope technology, ADVANS LYRA units are maintenance-free, highly reliable, robust and very easy to install and use, all prime requirements in more-critical situations.
