The Global Underwater Hub (GUH) is a new strategically focused, intelligence-led organisation that aims to transform the UK’s underwater industry into one of the largest and fastest growing industries in the country

Led and governed by industry, the GUH will represent, promote and support all sectors of the underwater industry by providing companies with the market information, connections and access to specialist expertise that they need to grow.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The assistant AV Technician will be required to assist in the set up and operation of media equipment for live events within the GUH offices in Westhill.  This will involve onsite events and hybrid events utilising broadcast quality technology. In addition, the postholder will provide remote support to GUH offices in Newcastle and Bristol.

This will include organising and installing media equipment such as projectors, microphones, video monitors, and sound and video routing requirements. They will also be required to assist in the general venue layouts and set ups to match the individual event requirements. The technician will develop in depth knowledge of the audio visual systems to assist in ensuring effective use of the technical facilities

There is a requirement to assist in the support of IT technologies for live events and business meetings. 

The assistant AV Technician will have knowledge of audio and video equipment, lighting and filming techniques, and be able to demonstrate troubleshooting skills in order to be able to be involved in creating creative and technical solutions to support the audio visual experience  to enhance any live  event  and online experience.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Meeting with Event Coordinators to discuss audio, lighting, and video requirements.
  • Altering venue arrangements according to layout diagrams.
  • Setting up and installing microphones, lights, video monitors, projectors, speakers, and video cameras.
  • Conducting sound, visual, and performance quality checks on AV equipment.
  • Inspecting mountings and electrical equipment to ensure they conform to health and safety regulations.
  • Operating sound and visual equipment during live events.
  • Troubleshooting equipment and working with AV, IT and Events colleagues ensuring events run smoothly.
  • Maintaining strong customer relations.
  • Disassembling audio and visual equipment and packing up after the event.
  • Supporting and organising room setup and layouts for various event formats
  • Supporting the use of IT technologies e.g. Microsoft Teams, Zoom, PowerPoint and other related presentation software.
  • Working knowledge of both PC and Mac operating systems.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • HNC/ HND or equivalent experience in audio visual/video production technology or a similar field.
  • Knowledge of IT hybrid meeting solutions e.g. Microsoft teams and Zoom
  • Knowledge of sound, video, and lighting equipment for live and hybrid events

SPECIFIC TRAINING / SPECIALIST SKILLS

  • Familiarity with computers and IP Networking Systems.
  • Knowledge of modern filming and sound mixing techniques.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • High level of physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy equipment.

PERSONAL SKILLS

  • Ability to work as part of a small team and adhere to deadlines, as well as autonomously.
  • High English literacy with excellent attention to detail, spelling and grammar.
  • Has proven ability to interact and develop respect with and range of stakeholders and senior level management.
  • Has the proven ability to facilitate and support collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders?
  • Is a proven self-starter, capable of working under own direction
  • Has demonstrated / commands respect from peers.
