Companies in the subsea sector were last night among the winners at the prestigious Northern Star Business Awards. The awards ceremony, held at the Exhibition Centre in Aberdeen and hosted by TV presenter Kate Thornton, attracted around 1,000 people in the biggest event in its five-year history.

Operations manager John Murray of Dominion Gas won the “rising star” award in recognition of his achievements and outstanding potential within the company.

Prospect Flow Solutions were presented the “commitment to people development” award for their excellent commitment to staff through investment and development programmes.

Commenting on the ceremony, Chamber chief executive Geoff Runcie said: “We've had a truly exceptional night tonight.

“We had a lot of newcomers pick up awards this year and we are delighted with this trend as it reflects the buoyancy and vibrancy of the north-east business community.

“Our finalists represented all sectors of our business community and each one is a significant contributor to our economy.”

Dominion Gas supplies diving, welding and industrial cylinder gases worldwide to the oil industry.

Prospect Flow Solutions are an engineering company for the subsea sector offering computer-aided engineering design and analysis services.
