Pigging the Unpiggable
07 October 2010
SIG will be demonstrating for the first time at Subsea UK Europe, a single "brush drive" module from its latest 10" high power pipeline crawler. The tool the demonstration module is taken from is designated as GPC-2 and is the first in a series of production tools that will operate in pipeline sizes from 6" to 60". Up to four pluggable drive modules can be connected together to generate multi tonne pulling forces that will enable transportation of large payloads and gain access to pipelines currently designated as unpiggable. Payloads such as ILI inspection technology and pipeline cleaning equipment can be integrated as separate modules and introduced anywhere in the modular tool layout.
