Oil & Gas Opportunities in Brazil Subject of Seminar

19 October 2010

Aberdeen City Council has secured 30 spaces on a seminar that is being organised by the Brazilian Embassy in London on Tuesday 30 November.

The seminar will be of particular interest to companies in the Oil & Gas Industry that are keen to find out about developing business opportunities in Brazil.

The seminar will be opened by His Excellency Roberto Jaguaribe, Ambassador of Brazil to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. There will be presentations and the chance to interact with the following organisations:

  • ONIP (National Organisation of the Petroleum Industry);
  • the Secretary of Economic Development of three Brazilian States (including Espiritu Santo, Rio Grande do Sul and Rio de Janeiro);
  • Petrobras;
  • Brazilian commercial lawyers;
  • The National Brazilian Bank for Economic Development (BNDES);
  • Energy Industry Council;
  • Case studies of UK companies that have been successful in Brazil (Hamworth);
  • PricewaterhouseCoopers.

The focus of the event is to provide companies that are looking to enter the Brazilian market or further establish their operations, with the information they require to successfully do business in the Brazilian Oil & Gas sector and how to source a local partner company.

Topics that will be of particular interest include the Brazilian taxation system, the business environment and regional incentives that companies can expect to find across three different states in Brazil.

There is also the possibility of a workshop with Petrobra’s London Exploration and Production office on Wednesday 01 December where companies will have the chance to present their own areas of expertise to Petrobras.

This event is likely to be of interest to companies at research stage or initial entry stage of the Brazilian market as well as those looking to expand their operations.

Aberdeen City Council will provide assistance to companies in the city and Aberdeenshire to access a limited number of flights and hotels at reduced prices.
