PD&MS Energy Announce Launch New Award

13 January 2011

PD&MS Energy (Teesside) Ltd, part of the Wilton Group, is delighted to announce their launch of a new award within the industry of Mechanical Engineering.

The award is in memory of Arthur Coakley, an outstanding structural engineer who tragically lost his life in the Brazilian Air France disaster of June 2009. Arthur was one of the founding Directors of PD&MS Energy, and contributed greatly to the Engineering sector within the North East.

Oil worker Arthur 'Art' Coakley was dreaming of his imminent retirement the day he boarded the Air France flight in Rio de Janeiro that disappeared over the Atlantic. His death left his family, friends and colleagues within PD&MS Energy and the Wilton Group devastated, with a vital component missing from their lives.

To help keep his memory alive, PD&MS Energy will sponsor this new award, to encourage and reward young mechanical engineers in the North East.

For the winner of this award, the Judges are looking for exceptional Mechanical Engineers who are based in the North East of England. Candidates can nominate themselves or be nominated by their peers, employers, clients, etc.

The winner will be an engineer who can demonstrate suitable experience, knowledge and skill in the field of engineering, along with a passion for developing their career and the profession. If chosen, they will receive a trophy, a cash prize and a trip to London for two people, to visit the exhibition or show of their choice.

Applications are invited from candidates who live and/or work within the North East area, and can work within any field of Mechanical Engineering. The closing date for applications will be Friday, 29th April and applications are now under consideration.

To apply or nominate a friend, colleague or family member for this award, or for more information, please contact Helen Wright on 01642 546664.
