Schilling Robotics LLC, the Davis-based designer and manufacturer of deep-sea robotic vehicles and other underwater equipment, said today that it has opened a new support center in Singapore and begun construction of another one in Brazil.Schilling said the centers will be operated in partnership with Houston-based subsea oil and gas equipment company FMC Technologies Inc., which purchased a 45 percent stake in Schilling in 2008.
The centers will be staffed by Schilling-trained personnel hired from the respective areas. Each facility will carry approximately $1 million of spare parts inventory. Product repairs also will be offered.
"These expansions demonstrate Schilling Robotics' commitment to global support for our customers," said CEO Tyler Schilling.
The 3,000-square-foot facility in Macaé, Brazil, is scheduled to open in April.
