Quadrant Secures Supply Contract with IHC Engineering Business

Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products were proud to be chosen as the supplier of the cable sheaves to IHC Engineering Business, for the tower on the Saipem J-LAY vessel. Quadrant’s engineers worked closely with EB’s design team, producing detailed calculations to prove the sheaves capabilities in a very demanding application. Full DNV approval was obtained for the sheaves. Quadrant’s Monocast cable sheaves are being used extensively on offshore equipment due to their reduced weight, corrosion resistance and kindness to wire ropes, leading to longer rope life. Sheaves, rings and discs up to 3 metres in diameter can be produced as one piece castings, while larger diameters can be provided in segmented form.
Quadrant also produces track plates for ROV’S, scoring two firsts in 2008 with the manufacture and supply of 2metre-plus plates for the world’s two largest Rock Trenchers on two separate contracts.

All materials are manufactured in-house and, in addition to the renowned Nylatron® used in the applications mentioned above, also produce advanced plastics which are designed to withstand the pressures and temperatures experienced in deep water drilling and exploration. Duratron® D7000 PI and new bearing grade Duratron® D7015G PI are high performance Polyimide grades that bring the benefits of polymer materials to applications operating in the region of 315º C (600 º F). These technically advanced polymer products open up exciting opportunities for new applications in the subsea sector.
