Serimax Secure Acergy Welding Scope

07 March 2011

Acergy has awarded Serimax, a 100% subsidiary of Vallourec, the welding scope of a major pipelines replacement project offshore Nigeria.

Acergy is removing existing risers and installing approximately 15km of corrosion-resistant alloy (CRA) pipelines and associated risers for ExxonMobil on the Oso Re project.

International welding company Serimax has been awarded the automatic welding scope for the CRA pipelines with diameters of 16", 12.75" and 10.75".

Welding qualifications were successfully performed at the company’s Mitry-Mory workshop in France and benefited from Serimax’s experience of working on a similar offshore CRA pipeline project for TLO and ExxonMobil in Malaysia.

Cyril Tigien, Serimax vice president for Europe, MENA and the CIS states said: “The project award underlines our capability in being able to deploy CRA equipment effectively and efficiently in welding, pipe alignment and machining procedures.

“The successful completion of the project, combining high productivity and low repair rates, will serve to strengthen the close working relationship we already enjoy with Acergy.”
