Acergy, a leading seabed-to-surface engineering and construction contractor for the global oil and gas industry, has officially moved in to its new, bespoke, multi-million pound campus in the prestigious Westhill Business Park on the outskirts of Aberdeen, Scotland.

While around 600 staff have made the move from the company's previous base at Bucksburn, Aberdeen, the new facility can house up to 800 employees. Since the contract with Stewart Milne construction was signed in late 2006, a highly successful recruitment campaign has increased the company's headcount by 25%.

The campus has been constructed with the environment in mind, incorporating energy saving features which include daylight and movement sensitive lighting controls, gray water harvesting, passive chilled beam cooling and a geothermal heat source system.

The 17-acre site features a modern office building on three levels and an extensive workshop area complete with an external yard. The office design centres around two impressive glass atriuma with a restaurant and coffee bar located within the ‘heart' of the building.

Acergy is the first subsea company in Scotland to have its own leisure complex for the full use of its employees and families. They can enjoy the use of two squash courts, a multi-purpose gym, weights room and games hall capable of hosting a five-a-side football tournament and aerobic classes. As the hall has a significant seating capacity, it will also be used for all staff meetings and company events.

Graham Meil, Acergy Managing Director of Acergy UK Ltd and Deputy Regional Vice President of Northern Europe and Canada, said: “Our new facility is a fantastic campus and a world class engineering and operational centre for Acergy. Our staff are delighted with the new premises and I am confident it sends a clear message about the future of the company and our long-term investment in the industry and local economy.

“The new base will help us achieve our aim of delivering every project on time, within budget and give us the perfect environment to improve how we work. Moving into this facility is a major milestone and signals a positive future for all those.”

Bill Imlach, Managing Director of Stewart Milne Construction, said: "This has been an extremely significant project for Stewart Milne Construction. By working in tandem with our colleagues in Stewart Milne Developments, we have been wholly involved in all aspects of the design and build, from inception to completion.

“In particular, we welcomed the opportunity to innovate, especially in terms of incorporating the sustainable aspects and environmentally-friendly systems that were key to delivering a successful campus for Acergy. This is a flagship project in which we are proud to have been involved."
