Aker Solutions Receives Extension of Sub-Sea Contract from Statoil
26 April 2011
Aker Solutions has received an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) order from Statoil for the building of three numbers of subsea work-over systems to be used at the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
The current contract is in sequence of an option exercised over an earlier award by Statoil in February for the construction of a workover system for use at the Vigdis North East development over the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The workover equipment is deployed in the subsea oil production wells for erecting the equipment and readying the well for commercial production. The equipment is also used during the maintenance works at sub-sea oil wells to improve the retrieval of oil.
The project will be handled by Tranby Technology and Manufacturing Centre, owned by Aker Solutions and located outside of Oslo in Norway. The company is planning to produce the well control package and other riser elements at Tranby and the workover management unit away from Aberdeen.
