Sonsub has been presented with a number of awards at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Awards Evening in Aberdeen, as a result of continued long term support of the charity's fundraising efforts.

Held recently at The Marcliffe Hotel & Spa, the event celebrated the tremendous success of JDRF's supporters in 2008, with particular focus on the annual Scottish Walk to Cure Diabetes at Hazlehead Park on 14th September. Around 1000 people participated in the walk, including a 30 strong team from Sonsub, resulting in over £170,000 being raised through sponsorship.

The Sonsub team picked up a Golden Sneaker award for contributing over £500, Gareth Ellis received a Bronze Achievement award for raising over £1000 from his Polar Challenge expedition to the Arctic, and the company collected a Bronze award for being corporate sponsors of the walk.

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation exists to find the cure for type 1 diabetes and its complications, and is the world's largest charitable funder of type 1 diabetes research.

Giorgio Martelli, General Manager, said: “It is very pleasing to see that the support for such an important cause has now become a personal commitment for so many people in Sonsub - this is what will make a difference.”

Lisa Elstow, Events & Fundraising Manager for JDRF Scotland North, was delighted with the ongoing support, commenting: “Since 2005, Sonsub has been a key supporter of JDRF's Scottish Walk to Cure Diabetes and our annual ball, as well as other fundraising activities. As a result, donations from Sonsub have totalled more than £28,500, which is a fantastic contribution, and this will fund the vital research needed to help find the cure for type 1 diabetes."
