Towheads to be Delivered at Wick for Subsea 7 Contract with BP

26 May 2011

Subsea 7 is preparing for the arrival of four towheads into Wick harbour this weekend.

The equipment will be transported by cargo ship on Saturday (May 28) from Invergordon. Subsea 7 will then transport two of the towheads on Sunday and the other two on Monday.

Heavy goods vehicles will transport the towheads through Willowbank, Henrietta Street and Girnigoe Street on their way to Wester.

The towheads will be used in the BP Andrew project which Subsea 7 general manager Willie Watt says has re-energised the Wester site.

The project employs 150 staff on-site and is currently halfway through the project.

He has asked for the public's co-operation while the transport of the equipment takes place.

"Traffic cones will be put out this weekend to prepare for the four towheads passing through Wick," he explained.

"We would ask the public to once again assist us and not to park on these streets while the operation is being carried out."
