The growing opportunities in Asia pacific will be highlighted when Subsea UK hosts its sixth technical conference, Subsea Asia 2011, at this year's Oil & Gas Asia exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, on 2 June 2011.

The one-day conference will feature a who's who of the subsea industry with a focus on the applications for new and existing subsea technology. The event will also provide a platform for the UK sector's decision makers to exchange ideas and practical knowledge with counterparts from Asia and around the world.

Subsea UK chairman, Bill Edgar, will preside over the conference which will focus on meeting the challenges of integrity, maintenance and reliability as well as top tension risers and well intervention.

Keynote speakers include SMD's chief executive and Subsea UK board member, Andrew Hodgson; Encik Rashid Sainal, general manager, project implementation, petroleum resource development at Petronas, Jason Waldie, associate director at Douglas Westwood, Richard Baily, GL Noble Denton's executive vice president, Daniel Brooker, senior consultant at MSC Kenny and a speaker from Framo.

Speakers from Well Ops, Subsea 7 and Paladon will offer an in-sight into on the well intervention vessels used in the Mocondo incident response, the installation of mechanical lined pipe using reel lay and the autonomous shutdown valve.

'This will be a stimulating, thought-provoking conference which really highlights the emerging opportunities within the Asia Pacific region. The intention is to bring these very real prospects to the attention of our membership which has the knowledge, skill and technology to capitalise on this emerging market.' said Subsea UK chief executive Alistair Birnie.

"The conference will also provide UK delegates with an extremely valuable platform to create international alliances and new business opportunities in the Asia Pacific market.'
