Opportunities in Offshore Wind Operations and Maintenance Spelled Out
13 June 2011
Subsea companies will find out about the future drivers for the industry in both oil and gas and renewables at a lunch this week.Subsea UK, in association with ODS Petrodata, is hosting the event on 16th of June at the AECC to give members an insight into the turbulent times in recent years and the factors behind it as well as an overview of the future subsea market in the North Sea and beyond. ODS will focus in on the pipelay, diving support and ROV support vessels working in the subsea and construction markets in shallow and deep waters.
The event will also cover the offshore wind market, examining the emerging operations and maintenance market and the vessels required. Analysis of the current and future market will be used to show potential commercial opportunities in the turbine, foundation and cable installation market as well as the opportunities for market entry in crew transfer, helicopter and plant replacement vessels within the operations and maintenance sector from now until 2020.
Geoff Fisher, managing director of TPG (UK) Limited will discuss the challenges and opportunities in offshore renewables from an oil and gas contractor’s perspective.
Scott Hamilton of ODS Petrodata said: "Operations and maintenance in offshore wind is set to require over 37 billion Euros of investment over the next ten years, with significant expansion needed in all offshore access solutions. With a considerable bottleneck set to hit the market in the next few years, now is the time for first-movers to get involved in the market in preparation for Round Three.”
The UK’s subsea sector generates £5.9 billion and supports 50,000 jobs.
