RBG’S OPITO Approved CMS Scores Full Marks In Total Audit
26 August 2011
RBG’s OPITO approved Competency Management System (CMS) was praised after it recorded zero non-conformances or observations in an audit commissioned by TOTAL E&P UK Limited ("TOTAL”).
Graeme Hutchison, TOTAL E&P UK competency supervisor, said: "The CMS plays a crucial role in the work carried out between our companies. The competency team has taken onboard the previous issues and successfully rectified them to remove all our previous exceptions.”
The audit examines the CMS against industry recognised standards, best practice and OPITO criteria to identify areas of non-compliance (NC) across five key areas: policies & processes; procedures & responsibilities; application of the CMS; staffing & resources; assessment & verification. After receiving 10NCs in 2009 and 1NC last year, the competency team successfully closed out all issues by September 2010 to achieve the flawless result.
Taking place over two days at RBG’s Aberdeen base, the OPITO auditor found the CMS was mature and managed by an experienced team that were fully conversant with its requirements. An excellent common understanding of the CMS between the competency department and the TOTAL E&P UK project team was also noted.
All staff interviewed supported the CMS and were passionate about it, while the culture of continuous improvement was well recognised and supported by the open-mindedness of those involved in the CMS delivery.
The excellent audit result follows the official approval of the CMS by OPITO in October 2007 and re-approval in 2010.
Wally Diaper, RBG’s training & competency advisor, said: "The excellent audit results highlight the exceptional work carried out by the competency team and I am confident we can maintain this high quality service delivery. The CMS ensures our people and processes operate at the industry’s highest standards and bring significant benefits to our employee community, the company and our customers.”
