Innovative Subsea Gadgets and Widgets Come Under Spotlight

Innovative gadgets and widgets which underpin the subsea industry’s cutting-edge technological reputation are to come under the spotlight at a Dragons’ Den style event in Aberdeen today (Wednesday, August 31).

Ten companies from across the UK will be given the opportunity to promote their emerging products to leading industry figures at The Society for Underwater Technology event chaired by Subsea UK.

Neil Gordon, chief executive of Subsea UK, said: "As the UK’s subsea sector continues to rapidly expand globally, it is vital that we continue to build on our reputation for developing pioneering tools that are at the forefront of marine technology.

"This event gives businesses the prime opportunity to showcase their new technology and very latest designs into the market place as well as profile their company and make vital new contacts.”

Among the companies presenting are Fugro, ADUS, Pulse Structural Monitoring, Subsea Technologies Ltd, GE Oil and Gas, Intermoor Ltd, Subsea Deployment Systems, Cameron, Ocean Tools Ltd, and Kongsberg.

Anna Henty, Events Manager for The Society of Underwater, said: "SUT’s Subsea Gadgets and Widgets evening meeting will highlight the vital role that cross-fertilisation plays in retaining the UK’s world-class subsea reputation.

Sharing expertise at this event allows the development of state-of-the-art exploration tools that continues to push the industry’s technological boundaries.”

Kongsberg, one of companies presenting, will highlight the future of 3D HD underwater technology by demonstrating their new HD camera which was launched earlier this year.

As well as Ocean Tools, presenting on their recently launched designs such as the streamline offshore leak and dye detection system OceanSENSE and Subsea Technologies who will promote their recently developed fast releasing, cost reducing Xtreme Release Connector for riser systems. These new designs address many of the long standing subsea issues by improving safety and decreasing environmental risk through flexibility and speed.

The event is being held at the city’s Hilton Treetops hotel at 5.30pm and presenting companies include:
