Island Offshore reports that Island Valiant is continuing to work for AGR Subsea, excavating along piperoutes on the Northern Extension of the Ormen Lange. The contract was awarded in March 2011 with startup in May, and was initially planned to last for 30 days.

"As of today, the vessel and trenching spread has flushed away approximately 14,500m3 of material, and by end of the campaign, approximately 16,000m3 of material will have been removed. Planned mass removal was 10,500m3," said the company.

The work has been carried out in water depths down to 950m. The largest site removed was more than 11m high.

The campaign has been very successful for all parties with an uptime of more than 98 per cent. The trenching spread consist of high volume and high pressure seawater pumped through 6 5/8 in drill pipe down to AGR' patented clay cutter.

The campaign is expected to last until end of September.
