Application for Scotland to Norway Subsea Cable

An application for an onshore connection for a subsea electricity cable linking Scotland and Norway has been submitted.A landing point around Peterhead is planned as part of the proposed new North Sea interconnector.
NorthConnect has submitted an application to National Grid Transmission.
SSE Interconnector, a subsidiary of Scottish and Southern Energy, is involved in the development company.
NorthConnect said the move marked a "further milestone" in the progress of developing the interconnector.
First Minister Alex Salmond has previously described an integrated grid as essential to Europe's sustainable energy policy.
