Shell Grants Two Umbilical Contracts

Shell has announced it has granted two contracts to Subsea 7 to carry out umbilical projects in the Gulf of Mexico.

The company has given Subsea 7 the tasks of performing engineering and installation works for Cardamom and West Boreas in the Gulf of Mexico.

At the West Boreas site, a 6,096 metre long umbilical and subsea distribution hardware will be installed to a water depth of 959 metres in the Mississippi Canyon.

In Cardamom, a larger umbilical line will be installed, with the 9,266 metre line and the subsea hardware being fitted at Garden Banks, to a water depth of 914 metres.

The Subsea 7-owned Skandi Neptune vessel will be used to carry out both jobs.

Recently, Shell announced it would be looking to develop petrochemicals in conjunction with the Arab state of Qatar, to increase production for the Asian markets.
