UK Companies to Showcase Technology in the US

Subsea UK Launches Inaugural Best of British Event in Houston.
A dozen UK companies will be showcasing their technology to leading players in the US oil and gas industry at an inaugural event in Houston on 1st of November 2007.
Subsea UK, in association with the Houston branch of the Society for Underwater Technology (SUT) and UKTI, has organised the half-day event with help from the British Consulate in Houston to demonstrate why the UK leads the way in the subsea sector.
“With over 30 years experience in pioneering subsea solutions for the oil and gas industry, we Brits know a thing or two about the complex technology required in subsea developments, “ says Subsea UK chief executive, David Pridden. “Subsea UK was formed to promote the sector at home and abroad and this first of its kind event to be held in Houston will showcase some of our most innovative and exciting technology.”
The subsea sector in the UK currently employs some 40,000 people with revenues of $6.5 billion. But to remain market leaders, warns Mr Pridden, the industry must capitalise on global opportunities.
“Our vision is for the sector to capture $10 billion of the global capex market by 2011. In our strategy, we are seeking to achieve this in several ways but most notably by capitalising on international opportunities.”
Following a welcome and overview of Subsea UK’s vision and strategy by Mr Pridden, each of the twelve companies will present their technology and how it is working in the North Sea and further afield.
The participating companies, many of which are headquartered in Aberdeen, include Brinker Technology, MCS, Trelleborg Offshore, Acergy, Nautronix, BSW Ballgrab, DES Operations, 2H Offshore/Aquatic and Duco.
The afternoon session will be rounded off with networking over cocktails in the Hilton Houston Post Oak Hotel.
With over 150 members Subsea UK represents the full spectrum of the British subsea industry and champions their interests nationally and internationally. The organisation provides a focal point for networking, collaboration, skills and technology development in the industry.
