Matchtech Goes Deeper with Subsea UK Membership

01 March 2012

Matchtech are proud to announce new Subsea UK membership, a move reflecting an increased commitment to the Subsea industry.

The UK subsea industry today is worth an estimated £6 billion; accounting for 31% of the global industry. At the centre of such a prevalent industry, Subsea UK is championing the UK Subsea supply chain through supporting business, technology and innovation, skills education and competency, commercialism and diversification.

A key priority for the UK body is to address the key skills shortages in the industry. Matchtech enter this membership with this intention in mind. By increasing an already extensive offering within the recruitment market, we intend to enlarge the portfolio of talent available to the subsea industry.

Working with some of the top Subsea operators, contractors, suppliers and consultancy practices, Matchtech have adopted an approach which is mindful of industry knowledge and specialist skill sets.

In today’s market, Matchtech place candidates with the skills the industry needs to successfully expand and diversify. Looking to the future, we are working on candidate attraction schemes to attract tomorrow’s talent; proactively working with relevant universities who provide the skills the industry will need to sustain. With a total of 60 careers fairs and 340 skills sessions, across 80 universities each year, Matchtech Group Plc have managed to place over 2,000 graduates into the UK workplace over the last 3 years. The next step is to improve communication with graduates who hold transferrable skills for the UK Subsea industry.

Martin Bennell, Head of Energy Recruitment at Matchtech commented:
"Our new membership to Subsea UK marks our commitment to providing the subsea sector with a high calibre of candidates. As we enter this partnership, we embark upon a journey to meet the needs of an expanding industry. By targeting the skill shortages that companies face today we can look to a sustainable future for the subsea industry.”

To kick off their membership Matchtech attended Subsea 2012 in Aberdeen, Europe’s largest conference and exhibition for the Subsea Industry, to which record numbers of attendees visited.
