Subsea Manifold Repair Restores Flow to Troll
13 April 2012
Hydratight has repaired a damaged pipe on a subsea manifold linked to Statoil’s Troll C oil and gas platform in the Norwegian North Sea.A mandrel and its supporting pipe were pulled out of position during
an operation, overloading the pipe. This necessitated shut-down of an
associated 10-in. (25.4-cm) line, halting production.
Statoil commissioned Hydratight to supply a 6-in. (15.2-cm) super
duplex Morgrip end-connector to fit within the physical constraints of
the damaged manifold, 340 m (1,115 ft) subsea. This sealed the line, as
required. Pipe integrity was retained with no de-rating of the pipeline
or deviation from the original design.
