Subsea 7 to Increase its Engineering Numbers
30 April 2012
Subsea 7, a global leader in seabed-to-surface engineering, construction and services to the offshore energy industry, is looking to increase the number of engineers it employees across the globe. It will use its presence at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston, USA, from 30 April to 3 May, to help achieve its ambitious recruitment plan.
In less than a year, the number of engineers employed by Subsea 7 has risen from around 1,500 to 1,700. The increase in engineers is a sign of the success the Company has had and its positive view of future opportunities.
Allen Leatt, Subsea 7’s Senior Vice President Engineering, said: "We are a successful Company and our ambition is to grow. That means growing our skilled workforce. Engineering is at the heart of our projects. It drives everything we do.”
Each year, Subsea 7 takes on around 100 engineering graduates for its successful graduate programme. In addition to this, for the last seven years the Company has run an Engineering Conversion Programme for experienced engineers from other industries. Engineers across many industrial sectors, including the automotive, defence and aerospace are attracted to the programme. "This is a very effective way of bringing new talent into our industry as a conversion engineer can be up and running in a year,” said Allen.
To advance the professional development of its employees, Subsea 7 also runs its own academy to deliver technical training. Since 2005, senior engineers’ management and technical skills have been developed at bespoke residential courses with Cranfield School of Management in the UK.
Subsea 7 is currently recruiting for over 200 engineering positions across the globe. Besides engineering, the Company also has vacancies in both offshore and onshore positions and it is also recruiting in areas such as finance and business support.
At OTC, Subsea 7 will be exhibiting its expertise and technical innovation in engineering. Visitors to the Subsea 7 booth, 1641, will also be able to find out about the many employment opportunities available with the Company.
