International Engineering Design and Analysis Company Prospect is Trebling its Workforce in Derby
26 February 2009
Although it has offices throughout Europe and the US, Prospect has chosen to create the permanent positions in Derby because of the availability of high calibre of engineers in the area.
The company has already expanded its Friar Gate offices to house the new staff and says it will be recruiting professional engineers with varying degrees of expertise. Another reason for choosing Derby, according to Prospect's UK business director, Dr. Matt Straw, was the success it is enjoying locally.

Dr. Straw said:
“In 2008 revenue from our Derby operation increased more than 30% and we anticipate further growth in 2009. As part of this development Prospect will treble its Derby workforce. We currently employ ten people and expect to have a team of 30 by the end of 2010. While Prospect is a recognised name within the oil and gas and renewable energy industries, a significant proportion of our anticipated growth come from supporting the specialist engineering needs of the nuclear energy, civil aerospace and industrial gas turbine industries. Our base in Derby will be fundamental to achieving our expansion into these areas.
Dr. Straw continues:
“We established our Derby office in 2005 and have been impressed with the calibre of engineers we've been able to attract. Over the next two years we will be recruiting graduate, senior and principal engineers. These appointments will allow us to continue to offer on the spot expertise to our clients in the Derby area and beyond. We are also actively seeking to appoint a business leader to manage further business development opportunities.”
Prospect is the engineering division of Hallin Marine, an integrated subsea services provider, and provides a combination of traditional engineering and computer-aided design and analysis services to the energy industries. Prospect currently has offices in Aberdeen, Stavanger, Houston and Singapore and employs more than 50 people.
