Technip Secures Subsea Contract from Ithaca Energy UK

Technip UK has secured an engineering, procurement, installation and construction (Epic) subsea contract from Ithaca Energy for the Greater Stella Area (GSA) development, located 280 kilometres off the Aberdeen coast at a depth of 90 metres. The contract is expected to be completed in the second half of 2013.The contract, which has a gross value of approximately $230m, involves the detailed design and pipe-lay of a 33-kilometre, ten-inch oil export pipeline and a 63-kilometre, ten-inch gas export pipeline; various subsea works at the Stella main drill centre and the north drill centre, including installation of manifolds, tee structures, flexible pipe-lay and spool-piece components; and the installation of the mooring system to the production platform and the design and installation of a five-slot, mid-water arch.
Technip’s operating centre in Aberdeen will execute the contract. Genesis, Technip's subsea and offshore engineering company, will complete the detailed design.
Flexible flowlines (pipes laid on the seabed) will be manufactured at Technip’s plant in Le Trait, France. Meanwhile, Technip’s Evanton spoolbase in Scotland will fabricate the line pipe and Duco, the group’s umbilical manufacturer in England, will provide the umbilicals, an assembly of steel tubes and/or thermoplastic hoses.
Vessels from the Technip fleet will be used for the offshore campaign, including the Skandi Arctic and the Wellservicer.
