14 September 2012

Aberdeen-based energy engineering consultancy Petrex, have appointed John Hunter to the newly created role of Engineering Design Manager. John brings 14 years' experience of solving design challenges for major energy, telecoms and automotive clients. Joining from a leading subsea service company, with recent experience of a leading engineering house, John is well placed to lead this new service line which will also create four additional positions within the newly created engineering design team taking the overall Petrex headcount to over 30.

Speaking on his appointment, John said: "I am really excited to join Petrex and to launch and build our new Engineering Design team. Currently Petrex operate in the Development, Project and Operations space, but with the new team working with myself, we are well placed to offer innovation and sound engineering to a wide range of clients."

"With the addition of John and the growing Engineering Design team, Petrex can now offer a much wider scope of services,” said Steven Dempster. Managing Director at Petrex. "It is apparent that the Energy industry needs innovation with greater technical challenges ahead, and Petrex provide high quality, timely and innovative solutions to the wider energy industry.”

The Petrex process and promise to 'step back, open our eyes and ears, take in all the requirements, then think' is being further supported by this expansion.

This different approach has already born fruit with a number of project wins in excess of £100k and further interest from a number of major equipment developers.

Commenting further, Steven suggested that the growth at Petrex would continue as the scope of services developed.
