28 September 2012
On the 26th September, over 125 people attended the "Opportunities within Global Subsea and Oil & Gas Projects” Conference at the AMRC in Sheffield.Brian Green (Subsea Consultant for Lamorna BDM) opened the conference by stressing the importance of Integrity Management in today’s Subsea industry. Following a number of major subsea incidents in the last five years, supply standards have been considerably tightened. Now even greater attention is placed on the importance of quality throughout the process from materials manufacture to handling, machining to inspection.
Brian emphasised, "If you don’t do it properly you will have issues in the future. You must select supply partners who have systems in place and do what they are supposed to do”.
He went on to discuss the issues of Floating Platform Mooring Lines and the importance of Mooring Connectors. He complimented Oldham Engineering Ltd. in their role in manufacturing, what is understood to be the world’s largest ball and taper mooring connector; 26,000 tonnes.
Oldham Engineering has supplied many Offshore and Subsea clients with premier manufactured products from Bend Stiffeners, Reaction Collars and XT plates to ROV structures and Tether Clamps.
