32nd Grampian Industrialist is Announced
13 March 2009
George Yule, CEO of oilfield services company Dominion Gas, has been recognised as the 32nd Grampian Industrialist of the Year at a ceremony in Aberdeen on the 6th of March.
The award is granted to the individual who is deemed to have made the most outstanding entrepreneurial contribution to business in the North-east of Scotland, and is based on career history, company success, people development and entrepreneurial skills.
Having joined Dominion Gas in 2006, George Yule's role has evolved from that of hands on operations director, overseeing the technical activities of the business, to his current role as CEO where he has overall stewardship of the company.
In 2007 George led the £30million MBO and has since guided the company through two successful follow on acquisitions. In the relatively short time he has been at Dominion, George has grown the company to have a global network of offices and increased turnover from £5.1million in 2005 to a predicted circa £26million in 2009.
On accepting the award George Yule said: “It is a huge personal honour to win the 32nd Grampian Industrialist of the Year award especially with the prestigious list of past winners.
“I firmly believe that to become successful you have to surround yourself with a good team and that is certainly what I have at Dominion Gas. My sincere thanks go to all the employees at Dominion Gas, our investors, bankers and those business advisors who have been involved in the growth of the company over the past 2 years.”
Managed by Junior Chamber International Aberdeen (JCIA), the 2009 winner was announced at a black tie awards dinner at Ardoe House Hotel near Aberdeen.
JCIA project manager Judith Munro said: “George's 31 year span within the oil and gas sector has been a major contributor to his success. This is clearly demonstrated in how he has vastly increased Dominion Gas' turnover. His experience within the energy sector, coupled with strong leadership skills and a clear vision for the future has deservedly earned George Yule the coveted title of 2009 Grampian Industrialist of the Year.”
