Matrix Appoints New Business Development Manager

10 December 2012

Matrix Composites & Engineering are pleased to announce the appointment of Stephen Wilson as their new UK based Regional Business Development Manager. Stephen will be responsible for maintaining client relationships and identifying new business opportunities across Europe, Africa and the Middle East for Matrix’s suite of products used in the oil and gas industry.

Stephen is a qualified engineer with a degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Systems Engineering from Leeds University. With a background in technical sales and marketing, he has extensive experience in research, technology development including testing and demonstration, and offshore operations. Stephen has spent the last seven years working in the offshore renewables and subsea sectors. This included his most recent role as Business Development Manager – Renewables for DeepOcean/CTC Marine Projects, an offshore cable installation and trenching specialist located in the UK. Prior to this role he was Director of Wind and Marine at the National Renewables Energy Centre (Narec) in the UK.

CEO Aaron Begley said "We are thrilled to have Stephen on board as our new UK based Regional Development Manager. As an engineer with a background in technical sales and marketing, Stephen is a great fit for the role in terms of being able to effectively communicate the technical aspects of our product lines designed for the upstream and downstream oil and gas industry. Given the advanced technologies and processes used in our products which are derived from the aerospace and defence industries, a technical background such as Stephen’s will greatly assist our dealings with clients within the region”.

Matrix has had a sales office in Newcastle Upon Tyne in the UK since 2010. The office provides local project management services and technical support to their drilling product line including the company’s market leading riser buoyancy systems, their SURF ancillary equipment, well construction products and downstream cryogenic insulation systems.
