Technip Hosts Ladies' Golf Day at Meldrum House in Support of Clan

18 March 2009

CLAN's Chief Executive Debbie Thomson, lined up at the first tee at Meldrum House Golf Club today to help launch the Technip ladies' golf event in aid of CLAN.

The event which will take place at Meldrum House on Thursday 14th May 2009 is being sponsored and organised by Technip as part of its ongoing support of CLAN's ‘123' campaign to raise three millions pounds for a new purpose built cancer support centre.

Ladies will be invited to arrive at Meldrum on the day for a breakfast of strawberries and pink champagne before taking to the fairways. The event will include the usual challenges associated with any golf day such as ‘nearest to the pin' and the ‘longest drive', but what will make this day different is that the ladies will be looked after by a group of men who have volunteered to act as caddies and coaches, as well as serving drinks to the ladies whilst playing the course.

CLAN's Debbie Thomson said, “This is going to be a very special ladies' golf day at Meldrum House. Apart from being lots of fun it will also raise vital funds for our ‘123' campaign. Thanks to the generosity of companies and individuals in the North East of Scotland, Orkney and Shetland we are already more than half way to our target. Events like this will take us that little bit closer and we are grateful to Technip for their ongoing support.”

Technip UK's Managing Director Ron Cookson added, “Several managers at Technip have already volunteered to help on the day and are looking forward to being part of our first ladies' golf event in support of CLAN. We are hoping everyone will have fun and a great day whilst raising money for a very worthy cause. We would also like to thank Bob Edwards for allowing us exclusive use of Meldrum House golf course to help with the fundraising. ”

Teams of four ladies can enter the golf competition at a cost of £400 per team which will include all fees and refreshments, on the spot coaching, caddying and waiting services!
