19 February 2013

The UK subsea sector will have the opportunity to further bolster its international profile thanks to two events in the coming fortnight. Subsea UK is leading delegations to two major oil and gas events - Australasian Oil and Gas (AOG) in Perth from 20 to 22 February and Subsea Tieback from 5 to 7 March in Texas.

AOG is the largest oil and gas exhibition in Australasia and this year will attract 450 exhibitors from 20 countries. Subsea UK is once again supporting the Subsea Australasia Conference at the event, which will include a session examining the oil fields of the future and will be opened by Neil Gordon, chief executive of Subsea UK.

Mr Gordon said: "With the global subsea market predicted to increase by 100% over the next five years to $70billion, our members are looking to capitalise by cementing their existing overseas business and entering new markets. Through working in partnership with UKTI, Subsea UK is able to lead a delegation to AOG that will showcase a wide range of the UK’s expertise in subsea technology and skills.”

BPP-TECH, OMS, Inspectahire, Bibby Offshore and JDR Cables are all joining the delegation to Perth, Australia.

Subsea Tieback is expected to welcome 3,000 visitors and 200 exhibitors with the Subsea UK delegation comprising Bowtech Products, Bibby Offshore, Teijin Aramid, Cansco Subsea and Litremeter, again supported by UKTI.

According to Mr Gordon, the event, which aims to draw together shared learning experiences for the benefit of the industry, is highly relevant to UK subsea companies who have developed a reputation for being the market leader in subsea skills and technology.

One of Subsea UK’s priorities is for British companies to capture a wider share of the fast-growing global market and is working hard to assist companies increase their exports and enter new markets.

Mr Gordon said: "These delegations provide an excellent opportunity to investigate a new market, help increase visibility in a market and generate new leads. Under the Subsea UK banner, companies can come together to showcase British subsea excellence and demonstrate what we can bring to new and emerging markets.”
